hi.

I bought an old mandolin at a garage sale and it doesn;t have any strings on it. I bought a pack today, and there are 2 Es, 2 As, 2 Ds and 2 Gs.

i;m wondering... what order do i put these strings on?

thanks.

In pairs with the G's being your bass strings. G,D,A,E in fifths just like a violin.

i see... so it would just be:

G,G D,D A,A E,E ?

and each pair is tuned exactly the same?

Just so you know there are dozens of standard mandolin tunings. Worth looking into i suppose.

it is comonly tuned
G,G D,D A,A E,E

I play one, only because I used to play violin, so its like getting an instrument skill for free.
