no problem dude, i HATE it when people dont take the time to give a normal response, but instead sit there and try and think up a smartass one instead. If you dont wanna reply, then dont reply!

if you need any other help, just message me.
whjr....kudos to your attitude....I have trouble comprending some of the stuff I read, and it is nice to be able to just ask someone here to sort it out. I think you handled his question in a 'proffessional' and informative manner. :) :) :)

Big Ray....I checked out those sites and they are great! Those were great links to info!! I do however, think ya do need a trip to THE SHED mister!!! :D

brandonleitch.....Good luck with the gear. It may not be the best set up in the world( I remember when I used a handheld recorder from Radio Shack!! ), but you can at least start tinkering with hands on, as you DO read and learn. :) :) :)

Eurt, id go to the shed with you any day stud. :p :D ;)

whjr, get some experience under your belt , be out of high school for at least 10 years, get some paying gigs, earn your stripes, and put something on your page that doesnt sound like the backstreet boys. Then you can tell me what the fuck I need to do. Listening instead of shooting off at the mouth is a good start. Attitude like that is liable to cause you issues , should you run up on the wrong person.

Don't resort to dissing people's music if it's good. That's not cool. :(
if someone is really shit then give em hell, but just cos it's not the sort of music you don't like is no reason. Especially when it's got nothing to do with the advice given in this thread.

A cheap mixer and cheap mics will get you started. Make sure that the mixer provides phantom power if the mics you plan to use require it. If not, you'll be spending more money.

You can find some "freeware" recording software out there I'm sure...I don't know of any off hand...google it.

Keep the expectations low with this combo...but, it is a place to start. You haven't told us what audio card you plan to use or if you're planning to record to tape. Most run of the mill PC audio cards suck for recording (ergo the low expectations).

Good luck...too bad this forum derailed a bit. Best luck.
