Your budget is too tight. What do you plan to record to?

And no, if you've got a mic and something to record to, you don't need a line out to record your amp...that's what the mic is for.

i could get some cheap mics, a cheap mixer, and i've got pretty much everything else...

i could also get some pretty cheap software too, like i said... nothing too great....

all i have to do is just hook the stuff up to the mixer, and then the mixer to the computer... right???

yeah, for 200 dollars you wont be getting top of the line gear by any means. But like you said, you dont need (or expect) to. My advice is to just get a cheap little BEHRINGER mixer like this , a cheap mic like this , an rca y cable like this, and youre ready to go....

Shit, that only totals up to 50 bucks, so it can be done... but keep in mind -- you get what you pay for... If youre not looking for anything special, then go for it... But if you are, then youre going to have to raise your budget.

I understand you man. Just get a Behringer mixer..a compact one that is. Also, add a cheap condenser mic(Nady?) to your list. Don't think you will have enough for an audio interface. but somehow, you have to balance it out.

Let those who have done research coddle you so that you dont learn dick. Then go ask yourself why everything on the radio sounds like ass. THIS is the reason why. They are thomann's own brand, that's how they're so cheap, but they'd be better than getting 3-4" woofers like i'm going to recommend.

monitors - M-Audio Studio Pro 3 $89.95, and behringer hpm 1000 headphones for reference(speakers only go down to 100Hz, but headphones 20Hz) $9.95.
total setup = $230.89

If you lived in Europe i'd suggest.

software - Audacity free
mics - t.bone BD300£37.95, t.bone MB75£24.15, 2x t.bone SC300£20.01 each(£40.02)
monitors - the box NF06 A£102.12

total = £254.37, way over budget, but that's the cheapest of that type of setup i can find.

these prices don't include stands and cables, which could bring it up $40 at least

ok ass...first off, this is a FORUM... if everyone was just suposed to READ, READ, READ, then there would be no posts to READ... secondly, did his post give you the slightest inclination that he wants to do this shit for a living?? NO. therefore "reading till your eyes bleed" is just a TAD bit asinine. third, not everyone retains all of the information they read -- example: YOU and his posts -- so they want to TALK to an actual person, and get a personalized answer that best fits their situation -- in laymans terms... not the websites that are probably way over his head... after all, he just wants to get sound to his computer, nothing more. He didnt ask how he could get that "professional sound" for under 200.

My first post took all of 2 minutes to write, and it answered his question completely, WITH examples of the shit he could get. If more people were like that, (and there are some, so if youre one of em, thank you) who were actually helpful to the newbs (who just want a way to hear how they sound -- nothing more) than this site would be a lot better.

ok, after reading your response, i can see that my post went right over your head... once again confirming my original notion, AND proving my point that not everyone retains the shit they read. is it their fault?? no. its just how it is.


But now if that same person were to have a little "guidance" or help from a REAL person, then, and maybe then they will take the initiative to start researching themselves.

After all, learning the ins and outs of recording takes years and years. Do you expect him to learn all of this before he ever asks a question?? no.
