Man. I miss the sound of a needle on a record....

Free Plugin of the Week will inspire Rami or someone else to get creative in a manner they normally wouldnt consider.D

I didn't think you were trolling, but while this is the mixing section, you either didn't read the thread, or you totally mis-understood the title. No big woop. But this thread has nothing to do with plug-ins or achieving anything on a home recording. It's talking about LP's, not how to imitate them.

....and if someone needs a plug-in to help them get creative, they've got bigger problems to worry about.

I read the entire thing and I was resisting the urge to offer you own advice that you so readily bestow on others. As you are being a grouch I will resist resisting.

Move your thread to an appropriate section of the site. :D

I'm being a grouch? I thought I was being cool with you. All I said was that your post about a plug-in has nothing to do with the subject matter of the thread, and that's 100% true. Just like when I tell people to move their "I want a song critique" post to the MP3 Clinic, that' also the right advice and very helpful.

In your case, you're just being a baby. :D

Never thought you were so "sensitive".

Yup. Let's all just start randomly posting shit in any section of the forum, regardless of the subject matter, as long as its in HR. :)
Nice try. Actually, not even a nice try. You're reaching, and failing miserably. If you've got an issue with Greg or anyone else, then talk to him/her/them. Coming after me as an excuse to take shoots or Greg or anyone else is pretty weak.

Have a great day. :)

Two separate issues.

One with your dismissal of my offer of help that may benefit a non participating party. You could have just shut your mouth.

Two. Greg's obsession with me brought me back to correct the trolling assertion.

Its a great plugin. Give it a go. This is the mixing section after all. :)
Dude, I've had that plug-in for about 3 years, and haven't even opened it in about a year. It's just a plug-in, get over it.

I could have shut my mouth, but then that would have been stupid, considering you were (in your own words) "offering to help" Offering to help what, I don't know, considering nobody was asking for any help on anything. So, the fact is, you could have, and should have, kept your mouth shut.

As far as your crush on Greg, deal with it, rather than attacking other people as an excuse to get a shot in on him.

I've never had a problem with you, and I still don't. But you're being a real baby right now. That's ok. We all have our moments.

Enjoy. :D

I like playing records ...... the plug in would be a useless item for me. I like the better sound of a good record ..... I like the album cover ...... I like the way cymbals come across on a good record .... I like the way applause sounds like applause instead of just white noise ..... I like the timbre of voices.
The plug in would obviously have a use in recording ...... it doesn't have any use ( for me) in listening for pleasure because it would only simulate the flaws of a bad record without any of the benefits of actually listening to a record.

Also ...... I don't use plug ins ...... at all ..... ever ....... since I don't use a 'puter for recording or listening to music .......at all ............ ever.
Someday when I'm in the nursing home (next week? ) they'll come in handy though.

Sorry bro, i forgot it's your forum. No one else could possibly benefit from a subject line related plugin in the mixing section.

Kudos for standing up for your boyfriend though. :D

I never told you what to post or what not to post. All I said was it's totally irelevant in this thread, and you know it, too. You crossed into troll land a few posts ago.

Don't cry just because you couldn't accomplish your goal of using me to get under Greg's skin. It was aweak attempt and you know it. It also shows what a hypocrite you are.

Your foot keeps going deeper and deeper into your mouth. This is fun.

Now, I know you're going to go for the heavy artillery. Too late. You've already made a complete jack-ass of yourself......again.

:laughings:

how in the world could he possibly think you're a greg fanboi?
Ya'll barely interact at all!

I'm a huge fan of Greg's. I wish 1% of the people that shoot their mouths off in this place were able to produce recordings that were half as good as his.

But, the funny thing is, I never once in this thread (or any other thread) "stuck up" for him., and I challenge anyone to prove other wise. I'm pretty sure that's one thing he doesn't need from me or anyone else.

Anyway, I've always liked CFOX, and I have no problems with anyone here. Seems he just got up on the wrong side of the bed. But, I'm having too nice a day to allow him to pull me down with him, so I'll just wish him luck with his plug-ins. :)

well, being a fan of his music isn't what I'm talking about. You don't spend the day 'hanging' with greg ever and I never see you jumping to his defense or getting into wars over him or interacting with him in any way outside of the clinic.

And yeah, greg is a talent.
He's also a good guy ...... he just doesn't like dumb.

Cool stories bros. I am going to play some records my mother owns. Johnny Fedora and Alice Blue Bonnet, Apparently tinkerbell will help me turn the page.

Oh, I dont have a record player :(. Lucky its on youtube. :D

We are being hurled towards change. The future is all around us!

I had an experiance the other day which mirror what Greg said (at least i think it was Greg)
During a guitar class i asked a new student which Blink 182 tracks he liked and guess what he said. Yeppers you got it
"I don't know what they're called i just like them"
Sad but true

Anyway, first record I put on 6 months ago when I got the new TT was a nice clean copy of Queen, Night at the Opera.
It was a magical hour, I don't even know how to describe it.
It's got to be the analog dymanic range, or the rite of cleaning the vinyl;
I get more focused on what I am listening to, and actually listening.
That album is is a masterpiece.

My latest LP is Alice Coopers, new LP, "Welcome 2 My Nightmare". Great album with a wide variety of sound. And I found The Who's "Tommy" on Decca records in excellent condition for $1 at a yard sale !!! Has the booklet too !!!

Ahh... Welcome To My Nightmare was the first album I ever owned. Well, right after the Swiss Family Robinson one that I played on my Fisher Price player. It did come with a book, and beeps on side one to let me know when to turn the page. Squeeze Box single 45 was next to be played on the FP turntable. :)

Squeeze Box on a FP record player. If only your parents new :) Priceless !!!

Ride Fat Biscuit, ride !

Squeeze Box on a FP record player. If only your parents knew
I was 12 when that first came out. It was the first time I was aware of the Who. People at school kept talking about "Pete Townshend" and I never knew what they were talking about.
My sister and I used to somewhat corrupt the opening lines.....

on my Fisher Price player.
I used to work with these kids and one of them used to call me Fisher Price. I never knew why, but he and his little crew of 10 year olds used to burst into mass laughter. It was actually quite funny in a mystical sort of way.

Up until the mid 80s, I knew the names of every song I had on record. But from about '87 on when I got into christian rock, Indian music, jazz fusion and Irish folk, most of the songs I have, I couldn't tell you the names. I know the songs intimately and well, but I haven't a clue as to what many of them are called. When I look up the names, they're often unfamiliar !
I can't even remember the names of some of my own songs. Sometimes I'll get an idea for one and as I go to hum it in the dictaphone I'll start by saying "bassline for 'such and such' " or whatever the song is called or whatever the instrument part is. But sometimes I'm stumped as to what it's called !

To get that needle on a record effect.

Try this. It's FREE too. :)
I remember when I first got Sampletank and among the effects is one called "Phonograph" which is basically the sound of scratches on a record. It reminded me of the start of a song by Laurnea that is supposed to simulate a scratched record. It always sounds so fake to me. At the time, I thought it was so funny that for 40 years, the moves were to get away from the inherent noise of analog and towards a 'clean' sound and when it was finally achieved, some of the very sounds that digital was developed to eradicate were then sought under the guise of some kind of authenticity.
I can't say I ever actually liked the sound of a needle scratching vinyl. I didn't dislike it, it was just what it was and what was there. As a sound in itself, I don't miss it anymore than I'd miss that tunnel~y sound of a badly done MP3 or the buzzing of AM radio.
