Man! I knew people USED bootleg software, but...

This guy has the NERVE to include ~$1000 of what he calls "copies" of software to his delta 1010 ebay listing! (cubase SX, waves gold, wavelab 4.0).

Now, normally I would see this, shake my head, and curse the pathetic bastard. But I'VE got a 1010 up on ebay right now too DAMMIT!

Luckily, I found ebay's handy little "auction reporting" device...If anybody else wants to report this guy, maybe we can get him booted (or at least the auction taken down :-).

if his price is cheaper...I'll take the bootleged stuff
 
all software after the master are copies anyway ;) i've seen tech tv call software "copy of xxx" many times...

i've also seen them say win xp disc or go buy a copy of xxx...

it's terms people use, eh, (not good)

Seeing as how it's Waves Gold bundle, SX, and Wavelab, all with the 1010 for under $400, I kind of doubt they are legal "copies".

They must be desperate for cash then to be selling a $600 unit with $1200 of software for $400. I'm sure you could get much more than that, if they are indeed legitimate.

So what soundcard are you going to get next? Just wondering why your're selling the 1010.

Well, I'm looking pretty closely at the MOTU 2408. I know it's not a huge step up...actually it's about the same price.. But I'm trying to put together a little mobile setup that will go in a rack with a PC ATX rackmount case. So I'm thinking MOTU 2408 with 1 or 2 of those new behringer ADA8000's for the lightpipe IO until I can throw down for a digital board (I'm in college so money is tight).

Any ideas/suggestions for that kind of setup?
 
The MOTU 2408 MKII, that is.

on ebay. :-) on a budget, like i said...
 
No suggestions, I think the Motu is a good way to go, I am going down a similar path. I have been fluctuating between the Delta and the Motu and am leaning towards the Motu 828 MK2 .
 
I emailed the seller a couple of days ago asking if they were real or bootlegs. This is the response I just got:

their bootlegs dude...sorry...if they were originals the reserve would be much higher....However they are good bootlegs,,,hahaha...thanks

Is it illegal? I mean, I know its illegal to USE copied s/w... but is it illegal to give it to someone?

No I didn't respond. I'm not the vigilante type.

Pirated software is pirated software. It's illegal whether he sells it or gives it away.
 
Well, I contacted ebay two days ago and it's still up there. So much for their "support" team. Oh well.
 
Even with the bootlegs still not a good deal. The thing's at $400 right now. I can get it for $600 for sure and can steal all the software I want. Bet it goes for around $500. I'd rather just pay another $100 for a new one...
