I've recorded this song in two different keys with both a male and female vocal.

Which one fits the song better?

Male Vocal

Female Vocal

Great recordings!

I liked the first mix / arrangement better. Not positive though.

Both are sung very well. I found the vocals a bit loud in spots on the male version. I also think you need a bit of deesser in spots (sleep).

I really don't know, I like both, the female singer has a nice voice.

Maybe combine them, do the Sonny & Cher thing... :)

Good stuff!

heh... wish there was a way to do a duet but they're in two totally different keys and neither one of us can sing in the other ones key.
:)

Hi there!

You asked a straightforward question, so I'll be brief. I liked her version better. She just started off stronger and stayed there. But this really has more to do with your preference than it does mine. Your voice has more character (i.e., it's "different"), but she's just got a stronger performance... she's also got a great voice, which doesn't hurt at all, LOL.

BONUS INFO YOU DIDN'T ASK ABOUT: LOL. I'm not familiar with the tune. Is it an original? Pretty nice tune...the mix sounds kinda' "woofy" to me...like too much energy in the really low lows.

Man, I wish I had problems like this...lol. Nice work. Post more songs immediately!

like right now.

WOW . . . . The . . . . . . Girl . . . . . (Post . . . . . Her . . . . . Pic)

please

Sexy as hell voice

Sorry I spend all my money on microphones so a soft voice like that is about as close to a chick as I am getting right now.

And if you tell me she is a 12 year old I am going to be pissed! In fact if it is don't even tell me!!!

yup...it's original..words, music and instruments by nifty me.
heh..actually I had no idea what she looked like til a coupla minutes ago.
She's in California & did the vocals there & sent em to me on CD. There's a video at:

We're still working on other songs so for now I just got my own stuff.

They are both very good recordings of a nice song.

I like the male vocal, but the female vocal suits the song better.

The one thing I think could be improved on her vocal is to make less use of the semi-spoken "(good)night" at the end of each chorus (e.g. at 1:06). She does it every time, and I think it's a bit too much. I love the first one she does, and I'd probably leave it at that - just sing the note normally from then on.

I love the guitar solo in the male version, though. Keep that!

Also, it would be good to hear a wee bit more "light and shade" in the arrangement - i.e. bring in some new instrument or part every verse/chorus or so. How about some harmonies? That might be a way to get both voices on the track at a comfortable pitch?

They're both very good recordings - the above is just details.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers
