I just got 12 male and 12 female XLR connectors in the mail today and Im getting ready to heat up the soldering iron then I thought...hey..I have never done this before...what if i screw up....then i thought id ask here...
.
Anyway...I opened an old cable laying around the house and noticed that there are 3 wires in the cable but one of them splits between pin 3 and the housing of the connector. Is there any tips anyone can give me before I get to work???
The mic cable that I am using is from West Penn. There are 3 wires in there...red, black and shield. I guess it doesnt matter weather the red and black go to 1 or 2 as long as I keep it consistant throughout the snake right? And Im assuming that the shield should be split between pin 3 and the connector housing?
