Gone
Argh, I'm having a real hard time organizing all of my thoughts here. Bear with me.

THIS MESSAGE IS INTEDED FOR EVERYONE INTERESTED IN THE COMP CD!!

The Comp CD is getting there! I know we're a few months behind our non-existant schedule, but things are coming together and looking cool!

The purpose of this message is: MONEY!

I need it and I need it soon. If you recall from this thread: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=12496 , the first run of HomeRecording.Comp Volume One is going to cost $20 per set, plus shipping (about 2 bucks in the US, more internationally).

The 20 members who are represented on the CD are REQUIRED to pay upfront. You know who you are.

Other members have also indicated interest in *pre-paying*, and they are:

Gidge
Fishmed
Kelly Holdridge
Eddie N
Rhoadz
Cooperman
gaffa
mutt
DigitalDon
OneLouder
foo
tutton
Dragon
MISTERQCUE
BigKahuna
pglewis
Tucci
bball jones
dragonworks
DaveO
Jon X
Hot Rocks

Everyone on this list has priority, but if you don't speak up soon you might miss out. If you pre-pay, and I get your money before we start burning, then your name will be included in the "thankyou's" on the CD.

We are only making 50 sets (2 CD's each) in this first run and they will all be labeled "Limited Edition". Why? It's just a gimick to get people to rationalize paying $20 for 2 CDR's.

------------------THE ORDER PROCESS------------------
Everyone, even the contributors, should follow this procedure.

Email me stating that you are ready to pay and I will reply back with instructions for payment. If you are outside of the US I will figure out a shipping rate for you, otherwise figure on spending $22.

The email address to order is hr_comp_cd@hotmail.com - do not use any of my other addresses!!!!!

You will be required to send a MONEY ORDER. No cash, no checks, no credit cards. Money orders are guaranteed to cash and you are also protected if they are lost. You can obtain a money order at most supermakets for 75 cents or at a bank for around 2 dollars.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

Why 20 bucks man???

Ok, it will cost us around 10 bucks a unit to make these things, but we need money upfront to cover the cost of the entire run. It is going to cost around $350 to duplicate and print (inkjet) the 100 CD's. That figure will also include the jewel cases, but will not include the inserts which will cost between $100 and $150 at least. How I get them made will depend on what I have to work with.

So we're looking at $350 + $150 = $500. With each contributor kicking in 20 bucks, that's only $400, barely enough to cover the duping. So I'm attempting to raise a large sum of money with the sale of this first "Limited Edition" run to fully cover the cost of the run, and have a sum left over.

What will you do with the rest of the money?

Well, my idea is this. We can use this first lump of cash to get the ball rolling and KEEP it rolling. Let's say it costs $500 to make the CD's, and we take in a total of $1000 by selling all 50 CD's at 20 bucks each. That leaves $500 which is enough to make another run of the CD if there's enough demand, or give the next CD a nice head start. It would be nice to have a product ready to ship before asking people to buy it :)

Why should we trust you?

You just should. I will publically post who paid what, the total amount that was made, and scans of all receipts for expenses. I don't really want to become some sort of treasurer, but for right now I'm going to be or we'll never get this thing done.

What will the CD's actually consist of?

Plastic mostly.

But what's ON the CD's?

Each CD contains 10 original recordings by members of the BBS. Most of the people represented are people that you have come to know and love and hate. The actual song list is buried somewhere in this forum.

Each CD will also be enhanced. The "enhanced" information, as they call it, will consist of contributor information, MP3 versions of the material, famous threads, plus perhaps a few cool hidden features to dig for. Now this crap isn't randomly chucked together, it's looking pretty nice and should be fun to play with.

What will be the computer requirements of the enhanced stuff?

You will need a PC running either Internet Explorer 4+, or Netscape Navigator 4.7. It will also work on a Macintosh or Linux machine but I haven't established requirements yet.

What kind of turnaround time can we expect?

I don't know and I'm sick of answering that question. Let's just say that I am dedicating a stupid amount of my life to this project and it will get done very soon. I've decided to put everything else on the back burner.

Who put you in charge?

Nobody, this is a group effort. If any of the contributors have a problem, please speak up now!!!!!!

Can I be on the next CD?

Probably.

That's all!

Kelly,I can't find my left shoe!!
My email is in the..uhhh...MAIL!

Uhhhhhhh.....

What if you don't have money orders in your country??? (Turkey...)

Even checks are hardly used here and they are a bitch to cash/get.

I'd really love to get a copy of that CD, so what should I do???

Changes to the ordering procedure.

In your email, please include your shipping address! Damn I knew I'd forget something!

Those of you who have already emailed me don't worry about it, I've got it under control.

Slack, will you be sending me your address for the money?

Of course! I just didn't want to post my address. After you email me, I will be sending you a confirmation with my address and your shipping charge.

memo,

I don't know man. If you want to send cash internationally then that'd be ok, but pretty risky. Also I suppose you might have trouble getting US dollars? I suppose I could find a way to convert maybe.

What about COD? I don't really know how that system works.

Have you ever purchased anything from the US without a credit card before? What system did you use?

"Why should we trust you?

You just should."

Well, that sounds like pretty good thinking to me. Okay, I'll have one.

Did you get my mail yet?? I don't remember if I put a .33 or
