Ok I heard of a technic where it consist of recording several time the same track the same way each time and after while mixing, you try to get the sweet  spot on each of the tracks to give one hell good of a track. Well when I read this thread seemed like it spoke mainly for vocals, but do people like you do it for more than just vocals like guitar and bass ?

definitely you can do it for guitar and other instruments too. My guitarist wont get satisfied unless he plays the same several times and then we pick the best parts from it. It definitely gives a life in the song.

You can definitely make composite tracks for any instrument. It tends to be easier for vocals, because you can hide the edits in parts where there is no singing. Crossfading also makes edit points less noticeable.

"Comping" is cool! And actually I recently did a guitar lead for one of Rokket's songs, and found I needed to comp the track because my hand is still recovering from a piched nerve.
