I want to make rap songs with vocals

I want to use a computer

I have $400-$500 and might be able to get up to $2000

I really just need to know the essentials to producing my own songs

thanks

1. Computer -> Needs enough power to handle audio.

2. Soundcard-> Needs ins and outs to allow for recording and listening to you audio and midi.

3. Software -> Needed to help you make the music. Should edit and save the audio and midi related files you want to record. Doesn't have to be one program but they should all work together somehow.

4. Hardware-> Stuff like the soundcard, mics, midi gear, turntables, preamps, or whatever you need to put the sound od data into your computer.

5. Drive-> Nothing is or should be easy. Don't expect it to be. Stick to it and push yourself to excel. Educate yourself.

6. Talent

If you don't have 5 or 6 then don't even bother.

Now go and research each one of those and you will be off to a good start.

Looking for a quick easy start? FRUITY LOOPS seems to be the newbie favorite for doing beats. Recording audio seems to be wide open.

Ask a specific question about any one of the 6 and someone can probably help you better.

Peace.

yeah, basically what lazi said...

also, acidpro 4.0 is pretty decent for recording rap vocals since you can punch-in/pinch out, overdub, and get cool effects. when i first started, i used a radio shack mic going through a dj mixer into the line-in on my computer and have gotten some really cool stuff in the past.

acidpro 4.0 and the key generator for acidpro 4.0 are both on kazaa, and if you have dsl you candownload `em in a few minutes...

thats what i did, hehe...professional sounding stuff for $0... ;)

but alot of things depend on what exactly you are trying to do...if you're just a lyricist trying to get some things recorded, dont even bother with making your own beats because it's very frustrating and all the beginner programs always come out sounding like beginner stuff...just rap over other people's instrumentals if you wanna learn the nuances of writing and recording your raps...
