I think you mean 'rapping', not 'raping'.

Walters may be many things, but a rapist isn't one of them.

Yeah that was the joke... he said "raping" in the first post. Aghh its no good now its gotta be explained... My moment to shine, gone. :(

It's nearly impossible to shine in a walters thread, though I've had some stellar moments, at least.

What goes into making a rap demo or record?

What are some basic things i need to know to make a good rap demo or record?

1.) first lay down the drum machine?
2.) second how do u loop the sample to the drum machine timing beat?
3.) How do u rap? is there a rhythm to make the lyrics and raping sit
on the loop and drum beat?

What are some software or hardware tools to have for making a rap record or demo please??

Even for the most basic rap demo, you will need to spend money, particularly on drums. You will want to get the highest quality drums. Don't skimp on toms and make sure you get two kicks.

You'll also want fender strats with tons of fuzz. I recommend Ibinez distortion pedals and single state Crate amps. Avoid tube amps at all costs.

Record with the gain settings maxed out using three condenser mics-one pointed towards the amp, one pointed towards your guitar, and one pointed towards the ceiling. If you live in a studio apartment or your parents basement, then you can record direct using a first generation pod, or connect from the speaker out of your amp directly into your tascam four track.

Bass- NEVER record direct. Plug it into a beginner's guitar amp.

Sing your vocals into a Sure SM57. The good thing about rap is that you won't need a pop filter or wind screen, as your plosives and sibilance will fill in any rhythmic gaps.

actually I use pop filters on nearly every production with rap vocals. I think I didn't use it once, while using a RE-20.

to the above (mindset): he was joking.

to walters: I'm sorry, but I feel bad for you. Are you foreign, extremely young, or mentally challenged? That may come off horrid, but I've read a lot of your threads and they hurt my head. Try using punctation and break up your sentences. Maybe you are translating everything in your head, but the least you can do is put in periods between sentences, and read over every post you make to be sure it makes sense. And before clicking post, try to eliminate some of the questions. It seems you make some good questions, and then you ask something ridiculous like "how do i rap?"

ah...something is seriously strange about your posts.

All good suggestions, but walters doesn't ask questions for answers or suggestions.

NO because when i listen to rap music its 4/4 rock beat mostly but whats different is how they can make the 4/4 rock beat into a DANCE beat how do they do this please?

They adjust the 4/4 rock beat into a DANCE beat how?

Most rap music is "Danceable" but its 4/4 right?

When im at a bar i see alot of girls dancing to rap music but i don't get how they make the 4/4 rock beat because most rap music is 4/4 but what makes it danceable i don't get it?

I think the danceable rock beat 4/4 is what makes a the vocals easier to rap to a rhythm

Most rock music the vocals are not based on rhythmic but on intervals and notes

I listen to Tupac alot because i like his voice , but his songs are mainly 4/4 rock beats but they are danceable how and why and his vocals he can rhythmically play with the words sitting on the danceable rock beat

I'm wondering if rap engineers sit there behind the console adjusting the Tupac vocals like vocal corrections plugs in,intonalations, time streching,

Tupacs music comes really close to rock music its just the beats are 4/4 and danceable so it makes it a rap sound i guess

As you suspect, 4/4 is too slow. Danceable music is actually speeded up to 1/4. This means that the dancer has only a 1 out of 4 chance to land on the beat. Because of the short window of time, the dancer moves faster, and the reflex of the quick action is what makes the person's body appear to dance "in time" with the music

Because most of Tupac's words were broken down to one syllable. For example "Yo" lands on the one, so does "bling", "bitch", and "crib". This is how Tupac was able to write in 1/4 (not 4/4 as I explained above). White rappers don't know this, which is why many of them got out of the rap scene and went into the furniture business.

According to http://wikcipedophiaTupacblingbitchyo Tupac had his tonalations removed, so plugins had to be used to correct his voice. Plus, time stretching is something only done during the mastering process, so Tupac was already spinning with his posse before the change was made from 1/4 to 4/4.

Are u sure is 1/4?

How can i set my drum pattern rock beat to 1/4? this sounds to fast

Most rap is 1/4?

Tupac had his tonalations removed

is this what made his vocals rough and distorted, blues voice?

yes, plus he washed his mouth with sandpaper to give it that rough edge. and double tracking all his lyrics made the effect more pronounced.

most home studio drum machines aren't capable of doing a good 1/4 beat. you have to buy a more professional drum machine like the ones that are used in pro rap studios.

having his tonalations removed was done as a medical precaution, since he would get frequent tonalation infections from playing a lot of shows on his tour.

So did removing the tonalations give him that rough, blues voice likes its alittle overdriven?

no. it just caused his voice to have less varying pitch. the rough blues voice is done with plugins and Tupac's own special mouth wash procedure, and using layers of vocals.

please post a sample of your work when you're done walters!

try using the milky and creamy compressor to smooth out the vocals, then run it thru a distortion plugin to add roghness to the milky smoothness.
