making a living out of recording

im a senior in highschool and am currently working on pickign my major for colelge and cant decide. i want to do something either in music business or recording but i dont want to be poor, . i dont want to be rich either, just be comfortable. is it realistic to make a living out of it?

You may wanna have a read of this.

I'm 16, and working for studio that focuses more on radio commericals,
tv commerials, video production and some live sound. Its a start for me,
I get to use all the equipment "get my feet wet" and get paid at the same time.
Thou not enough to be able to live on my own with bills.

Even thou i'm more interested in recording muscians, it's hard getting into as jobs around here are scarse.

Not trying to be negative here, i'm all for it, if you love what you do, do it.
