Ok, heres the deal, a few friends and I are getting together to play a few songs live at a party. I have a small behringer mixer which i am running through an amp to create a pa system for the singer. Now, I know that mic inputs are mono so my question is:

Is there any way to get the sound coming into the amp to play through all the speakers (right and left) and not just the left? And yes, I know that it will still be mono and not stereo.

Thanks for your help.

You send both the L & R signals to the power amp with all channels panned to center or set the power amp for 'bridged mono'.

I have the mic channel panned center on the mixer but im still only getting sound from the left channel. I'll have to see if I have a mono setting on my amp.

Thanks.

I have the tape out from the mixer hooked up to the aux in on my amp with a rca cable.

Does your amp have seperate Aux inputs for each channel? If the amp doesn't have a mono mode then you just need to send a signal to each channel. Either use two outputs from the mixer or split the one output with a Y cable and run it into both inputs of the amp.

this could be easier.

buy a 1/4" jack converter and plug the mic right into the amp. i've done it before, it works.

That's also means you aren't using a mic preamp so it sounds like crap, no EQ, no effects and you have to adjust the levels on the power amp.

I ended up connecting both speakers to the left channel jacks on the amp. Couldn't use 4 speakers as I had intended to but it turned out alright.

Be careful with that. If you only run one channel of an amp it can damage the channel with no speakers attached. Next time just go down to Best Buy or Radio Shack and get a $3 Y splitter.
