i have cakewalk pro audio 9.03 and korg o1-wfd

i make all my sequences on the o1w but everytime i need to dump it to cakewalk all tracks are recorded together in every channel

what to do ?

how do i dump my midi info via cable to cakewalk in separate tracks?
 
I used cake with an M1 for many years but never had that issue since once i figured cake it was vastly easier to sequence in it. You might think about Midi channels.....set up each seq. tack to seperate channel and then set up an equal number of tracks in cake with corresponding channel numbers...record all channels? Of course you could record individually each one....hope this helps.

i already tried this and what happens is i get all the midi track recorded in all the midi channels

i suspect it must have something to do with the midi echo or something but i'm not sure still.

will keep trying but if there is another ideal please let me know

Out of curiousity, which format are you saving your sequences in on the on the Korg? format 1 saves all of the data to 1 single track, merging it I think, or maybe thats format 0 that does that.....anyway,
 
the plot thickens

my 48 year old brain (wow) just came online. When I purchased the M1 back in 89? it only had a small amount of storage for sequences and I purchased something from alesis called a data disk. I didn't have a PC and it was cheaper to buy this gizmo and sequencers were really still in their infancy. It was necessary to save "songs" to this disk in what format I have no idea and although I still have a few of my early efforts on floppies I have never been able to load them into a PC. They can't be read. I sold the data disk as soon as I got a PC and never bothered to use the M1 sequencer again although it does have a few good features. I was thrilled by the luxury of having half a gig of space to record. this evenig i tried to do what you are trying to do and haven't been able to either. I'm baffled but I'm going to post on the alesis forum and see if some old-timer can remember what the hell that Data Disk did.

Cakewalk supports two different MIDI file formats, MIDI Format 0 and MIDI Format 1. Format 0 MIDI files contain a single track, with all events stored in that track. Format 1 MIDI files can store up to 256 tracks, just like Cakewalk project files. When you load a MIDI Format 0 file, Cakewalk splits it into 16 separate tracks, based on the MIDI channels assigned to each event. When you save a project to a MIDI Format 0 file, Cakewalk collapses MIDI information from all of its tracks into one single track.

So why not save the format0 version and then reload it??

FORMAT WONT WORK

THANKS GUYS

I HAD AN OLD 486 PC AT HOME AND IT USED TO READ MY DISKS JUST FINE IN BOTH FORMATS 0 AND 1.

THE NEW PC'S CANNOT READ MY DISKS

WHAT I'M TRYING TO DO IS RECORD VIA MIDI CABLE SINCE SAVING IT IN FORMAT 0 OR 1 WON'T DO ME ANY GOOD.

WILL KEEP TRYING THOUGH.
