Ok so here is my problem. I am experenceing small dropouts, that progressivly get worse to the point of no sound play back while playing/recording in Reaper. I'm also getting crackling durring some play back in windows. At first I was thinking it was because I didn't reinstall Windows after installing the new parts, so I wiped my system drive clean and started a new. But alas it's doing the same thing. I would move my interface to a different PCI slot, but this motherboard only has one PCI slot on it. All the others are PCI-E slots. I have googled the crap out of this to no avail. IF any one has any Ideas I'm open to suguestion, but as it stands now I just upgraded the CRAP out of my Rig, and its not delivering. The only thing that seems to sort of make change is if I change the Khz from 44.1 to 48Khz the problem goes away for a little bit, but then Reaper (or the audio driver not sure which) Crashes after a while. So I then have to "End Process" on reaper.
Normally I would be the one doing the tech support, but I am stuck. I cant figure this out for the life of me. I just upgraded my Computer from:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3Gz
Patriot 4 Gb DDR2 800
MSI Geforce 8600GT
EMU PCI 0404
All on an Asus M2N-E Motherboard.
TO:
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB DDR3 1600
MSI GeForce GTX 580
Same EMU PCI 0404 interface
All on an MSI 890FXA-GD70 Motherboard
Operating system on both is Windows Vista Ultimate x64.
Please don't bother telling me to move to Windows 7 i just spent a ton of cash on hardware. I cant afford to spend more money, and as well my audio drivers for win 7 are still beta. Also I know the GTX 580 is a bit high for a DAW, but i game on my rig too. I also do Web design, and 3d moddeling as well as other art work. I can only afford one Computer, and I hate gaming on a console (even when the NES was new). Besides any of that I was doing all the same stuff on this setup as my last, and it handeled it just fine.
Thus far My theory is a hardware problem. For example the mobo chipset is not giving the standard PCI express port enough priority or something of the sort. But I don't know, and this is why I am here. I figure worst case is I need to bite the bulklet and buy a new interface or Motherboard. Btu I want to be sure first.
Thanks in advance for ANY help, and sorry for the long post!
