Magical Magnets

Just curious if anyone keeps track of what magnets are being used in what mics?

Being from the AlNiCo age, I prefer them in speakers, which might also extend over to mics, but not sure though. My quess is that inexpensive ceramic (ferrite) magnets are the norm, today.

What say you?

Lots of dynamic mics today are using neodymium magnets, which usually have a couple other things in them, like boron and iron as well.

I have no idea what traditional magnets for mics are made of, though, after they stopped using carbon pellets.

Many older dynamic designs -- the better quality ones -- use alnico magnets, including the venerable sm57 and 58.
