Hey guys,
I recorded this song with the plan to use it as a free gift for people on my mailing list. Anyone who knows me knows that hate all Christmas music with a fuming passion... so this is about as good as I could do. I guess it's actually more of a Halloween song that just happens to set on Christmas, but who's splitting hairs... I mean, one's a pagan celebration -- the other's a pagan celebration.
The song will stream automatically when you go to my music page, but you can also download it there for free (it's the last one in the right column). The download sounds infinitely better than the stream, but it's up to you.
I really wanted to capture a live take of the song that preserved some rawness and left the nuts and bolts showing... leaving in some room noise and things like that. I would venture to say that I'm pretty satisfied with the current state of things, so I'm mostly just wondering if anyone has any serious problems with the sound that would make for an out-and-out deal breaker.
Hope you like,
C
Magic Lantern
oh magic lantern
look into my soul
what will your yellow eye reveal
shadow dancers
fluttering in the glow
the mothlight knows what i conceal
show my knife in hand
show the fat jack-o-lanterns
make me forget its christmas eve
what will the magic lantern see
i search the face
at the bottom of the well
what a warlock calls a magic mirror
below the surface
a third of heaven fell
to sparkle up as stars appear
fireflies lit the lane
and the children saw the stains
on the hugger-mugger ghoul in linen sheets
what does the magic lantern see
golden braids
disguise my lover's hand
my sweet philosopher's stone
her masquerade
will end as it began
a fatal kiss to carry home
saxaphone and bassoon
keening at the moon
the wind is mixing many tricks and treats
what will the magic lantern see
