mackies tracktion

i tried a demo of it and absolutely hated it
 
It is a nice program. I tried it because it came with my ESI Juli@. Very easy to use. I already have Sequoia so I gave the CD and serial away, but it is a good beginner program.
 
I have the original version. It has its limitations, but I still like it.

Plus, I got it for free when Mackie was promoting it. So it's the best thing I have.
 
Got it free from the promotion aswell. Loved it, but I'm too baked into Cubase to make a big switch. I love the new workflow concept though, works very intuitive. Cubase can suck extremely hard at that, at times.
 
I use T2 almost exclusively for audio recording. It was my first DAW, and I find it very intuitive. I think its MIDI functionality is awkward at best though. So I bought energyXT and use it for MIDI use. Both are excellent programs in my opinion. By the way, its sucks when people write IMO instead of in my opinion. Even worse is IMHO. Just type IMAHO and be done with it.

In the first version, there is no way (that I can figure out) to set up aux. sends for effects. You can, however, submix to another track. The aux. problem is fixed in T2, though, I think.

Yup, that's fixed in T2. A little awkward at first, but it works.
 
Yup. I gotta say Tracktion is extremely under rated. I switched over about 6 months ago from Cubase. The learning curve is nothing like what Cubase was. I find it straight forward and easy to use. what I like about it most is, I don't have to spend hours trying to figure out how to do something. Everything is layed out in a self explanitory type of way.
 
I use T1 with my Firebox and really dig it. Cubase LE that came with the FB is loaded but I've never bothered with it. For me it's using what I have grown to know. T1 is user friendly and the everything through the filter racks is nice. My p.o.v.
 
One thing I dont like is it's loop function, because it always leaves gaps in between the looped part.

I agree that the loop function could be a little better as could the midi editor, but I have always been able to set up loops without any real problems. Just all depends on how you work it I quess.
 
tracktion is great if you want something that, like other people said, is intuitive and easy to learn, but i find that cubase smokes it in terms of performance...i did a mix the other day with a LOT of DSP stuff going on, and tracktion just wouldn't handle the project, but then i loaded it all into cubase, and boom, no problem

this is why i have found myself doing all my tracking in tracktion, but then using cubase for a lot of mixing
