I'm using a Mackie 1604vlz and trying to do a 16 channel digital recording of our live gigs. The Fostex will convert/record 16 channels- 8 analog inputs directly while simultaneously recording 8 Adat optical channels. I can feed 8 lines into the ADA8000 and take the Adat out from there to the Fostex. My VLZ manual only describes an "8 out split monitoring" system but in the past I have hooked up a rented Fostex 2424. My question boils down to - the first 8 channels from the VLZ are taken from the direct outs and fed to the VF160ex Ins- VLZ channels 9-16 go from the "1st click" Insert to the ADA8000 -get converted and sent as an Adat feed to the VF160ex? Can I still use the AUX 1/2 channels for live stage monitoring on all 16 of the VLZ channels? Would AUX 3/4/5/6 effects show up on channels 9-16? I could get away with 12 tracks(using the sub-outs?) and record the drums later- there being enough "bleed" from the drummers vocal mike. Would I be better off to go to the ADA8000 first then out from the ADA to the Mackie for channels 9-16? Am I on the right track?

I haven't quite figured out the Adat out from the Fostex to the Adat in on my Layla 2496 so I currently I use the CD in the Fostex to burn all tracks to a CD/RW as .wav files and then transfer to my computer
Thanks in advance Trptlvr
