how about a firewire and some Kristal Audio Engine and your good to go.

or better yet, send me the onyx and I'll study it up and post the results for you!:D

I can help. You need to look at the back of the 1220 and see if the firewire card is installed. If not, you need to purchase one before proceeding. If it is, then its a simple process of installing the drivers for the mixer (available at mackies site) in Windows. Then Install your recording software. If you have the mackie firewire card and bought it, then it comes with Mackies Tracktion recording software which is a very good program. If you have the firewire card and dont have the software then you can download the trial version of Tracktion or use whatever you want. After installation of recording software, connect the mixer (via) a firewire cable to your pc. Now if your pc doesnt have a firewire connection, then you will have to purchase a firewire card for the pc and install it into your pc. After you get the mixer and pc connected then its just a matter of setting up your recording software to communicate with each other. Mackies manuals (availale via site) for the mixer and firewire interface are very easy to read. The preamps in your Mackie Onyx are very, very good. So you are in great shape there. Just get it connected and your set. If you need any more help, just reply here or send me an email.

Click on the jpeg link. Look at the bottom of this picture. See where it says firewire i/o option card. If you see that plate then you dont have the firewire interface for the mixer. Its 399 new (ebay may have it cheaper). But its a quality interface with excellent digital converters.
