Mackie Onyx for interfacing?

i currently use an aardvark Q-10 for getting into my computer, i was thinking about switching to the new mackie onyx 1620 with the optional firewire connection. My questions are, would this be an upgrade on my overall sound? are the pramps in the mackie better? are the routing options better?

i was lookin into these for a while. they seem pretty cool. the price doesn't fit the bill for me though.
