Rock Steady
Sat evening I went to do a gig a couple of hrs away. We did one tune and all of a sudden a sound similar to a drum machine kick went off, then repeated and got progressively faster until it turned into a grind. Overloads all lit up on each channel and ti was over . It took like 30 sec's maybe, and the show was over for the night. THe soundman said Mackie had been through the board once before for same issue. This was the 24 channel vlz board. Anybody ever have problems with one?

is this common in the mackie group?
I'm only familiar with the smaller 12 channel effects model and an 8 bus a friend has in his studio.

This is not a common thing that I know of.... I've used the same 24 ch mackie board for live work for several years never had a problem...

It could have been a power problem at the club/venue that you played... I've pretty much seen everything in clubs... club owners are known for letting uncle BOB wire their power to save a buck!... I've even seen 220 wired with no common! (Yikes)

If you can/could show that it was a power problem at the club/venue it may be possible for their insurance to take care of repair or replacing your board.

good luck

It belongs to the guy that owns the PA gear. He told me that happened once before a few months ago down in Florida and that a Mackie service center went through it, said there was nothing wrong with it. I wouldnt use it for a bingo game after it failing twice. 'could be just something intermitent though. It was set up beside and kinda in front of my bass rig and a jbl sub beside it. May be something loose in it. I`ll know what he`s done about it Friday night.
