Mackie 1202vlz died - please help!

My 1202 suddenly makes a loud consistent buzzing/static noise when the alt 3/4 button is engaged. I unplugged everything from the mixer and had only the headphones plugged in and it is still there. Right b4 this happened a couple of the channels went toally dead - no sound at all - then the buzzing came. Any ideas as to what this could be? I called the local dealer and they can't even look at it for 2 weeks! Also - any recommendations on a similar priced mixer with better sounding pres?

I have a Mackie 1202 vlz that (knock wood) is still functional. If it's a regular old vlz and not the 'pro' model it must be at least 5 years old, possibly as much as 10.

Maybe it's come to the end of it's days, and will have to be replaced. Hate to be the one to break this to you --- I've been as gentle as I know how to be.

I would suspect it's a power supply problem. probably the best thing to do is not try to use it till you can have a tech look at it.
