Call me stupid, but I can't rename any of my HD's. Yes... I know I should be able to simply highlight the current HD name, and then just type away. But none of my HD's will highlight. I have 3 Macs (2 beige G3's, and 1 Performa 6400), and not a single machine will allow me to highlight any HD & rename it. Each of the Macs have several HD's in them (IDE's & internal SCSI w/accelerator card), sizes from 4GB to 80 GB. All of the larger HD's are partitioned. Could it be that the partitioned HD's won't allow renaming? Or is there some kind of lock on each HD, and I just can't find where to unlock this? Is there some comtrol panel, or key command which will override a locked HD, to allow renaming?
Thanks

Clicking once on the volume name and leaving the curser over it should highlight it and allow you to rename it. If not try rebuilding the desktop files.

Trust me M.Brane, I've done all this - that's what I'm saying here I'm stumped. I'm pretty mac savy, but this one's got me.
Thanks for that though.

Nevermind

Ta dah-I found the prob. I have all my macs networked together (via ethernet), with file sharing on this is what wouldn't allow me to change the HD names-DUH.

Thanks

That's one of the reasons I like Mac OS.

When something seems to be screwy, it usually turns out to be a case of brain-fade.;)
