Mac users, what are you using for DAW software? I'm looking for well executed wave editing, automation, and insert outs. I just read the post about everyone hating ProTools, so what are you using then? As far as I know our big hitters for Mac are DP, Logic, and SX. I'd like to steer away from SX.
I'm planning on recording to a HD24 then dump the project to the Mac for editing and mixing.

Logic then.
I actually prefer ProTools...but, for me, it depends on the degree of familiarity with the gear as much as anything. Takes me ages to do stuff in Logic, so I shy away.

Personally, I think Digital Performer is a nice piece of software. I think most people who have used it would agree. I'd steer you clear of SX, too. DP or Logic, take your pick.

I have and use Logic Pro however it is not the most intuitive app. It is loaded with goodies however compared with something like Sonar it is a little hard to get your head round initially.

Switch to logic

I have used SX for a while and agree that it can be a bit to handle. I have recently saw some demos of logic express and think that is the direction I will go myself. I also have the LE version that came with my firepod and although it may be stripped down, it seems easier to use. I'm not a recording or sound engineer so sometimes the more expensive, the more complicated.

:)

Actually, I've just been trying this out & I'm well impressed. It seems very similar to PT in several key ways, and is great for mixing/post-audio work ( the ability to import omf files relatively hassle-free is a bloody godsend!)

My absolute fave recording app for Mac, though, is Live....but that doesn't sound like what the original poster is looking for.

You're not the only one. I got so fed up with BIAS not updating Deck (my previous DAW) that I gave up and wrote a translator to rip their file format into OMF. I wrote my own from-scratch OMF export code and Bento container code from the published spec and a little bit of work to fill in a gap or two, and DP reads it just fine. I'm always impressed when an application can read a file that one of my disgusting hacks created. :D
