Hey guys, looking at the boss dr sample and some vintage boss dr rhythms.

Just wondering how compatible these are if I were to plug them in to let's say a pro focusrite 40 firewire interface into my 2010 macbook pro.

Will the mac be able to easily detect the midi devices in Logic? I don't want to purchase stuff off of ebay that won't work with my set up.

If anyone knows it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

midi is universal.

Your computer doesn't actually see the device. It sends data out to the midi port and it's up to the midi device to interpret it.

Midi specifications have been the same since the '70s so you dont have to worry about compatibility.

That's how I get by with my ancient TR-505--hook it up and run the midi into GarageBand or whatever. Decent sounding drums, and you can chain patterns together for 5/4, 7/4, etc.

And the crappy 8 bit sounds are still there if I want to do something goofy.
