M-port?

I'm curious about the preamps as well. I own a C-Port, and the preamps aren't very good (you don't get much clean gain at all). If they're using the same preamps, I'd think twice. I use a mixer with the C-Port and all is well - great quality. I will say that the M-Port looks much cooler though.

I can't find out if they're the same preamps,, but I'm guessing they're the same ones. Anyone know?

I also own a C-Port,and I agree with Sean, the pre-amps leave something to be desired. I would surely hope that if you go to the trouble of designing and manufacturing a new model, that you would take that oppotunity to fix the weak points. But to get an answer to your question, why not post at the ST Audio website? Their bbs is quite active, and I'm sure you'll get a relply from Claus or Matt.

Good point.

Claus ....what a guy. That poor German gets hassled more than any tech support guy I know. He's very patient and dedicated though. They usually respond the same day.

This is what was said about the M-port on their site when someone asked about the M-port's preamps, "Newer converters simply sound better all round and truer to the original sound and give you better S/N and dynamic range."

Well, that's a partial anwer to your question. Improved dynamic range. Why not ask it again? Speciffically, are the pre-amps the same, or an improved version? Someone will reply. Also, if you've got time, just monitor the board. I'm sure it will come up again. It may take a while, as they probably haven't sold too many yet.
