M-box vs 002 Rack

I need a Pro Tools LE system so that I will be compatible with other studios. I need to know if I would just be wasting $600 buying an 002 Rack instead of an M-box.

I do not use any midi instruments, and at most, I deal with recording: three guitars, bass, drums(9 mics), keyboards/piano, and 3 vocal tracks.

I use an Analog Yamaha MG 16/4 mixer(10 mono mic/line channels), and I record everything in seperate tracks.

So, in short, tell me what I'm missing out on if I don't go with the 002.

the m-box is a 2 i/o interface dosesn't it?

so you'll basically miss the 16 in's and out's of the 002r, even more so if you plan to record drums using 9 mics to separate tracks,
IE. it's impossible to record 9 mics from the drums to separate tracks if your interface only has 2 in's like the m-box does

It really sounds to me like you need the additional inputs that the 002 provides. I would definitely get the 002-Rack now, rather than waste money on the M-Box , only to find out it's not really enough for you.

That's what I have the mixer for...Is the mbox not compatible with analog mixers?

no it is...but the reason people use software programs or other storage devices is so they can multitrack. then you can come back in later and edit each track individually. if you sum it all down to two tracks you won't be able to change much later
