http://www.shure.com/NewProducts/X2u/index.htm i dunno if i should get the usb interface or the usb shure the cheap m-audio box is 99$ and the mic is 99$ without usb
with usb its 199 so either way its the same price,im guessing get the interface because if i ever get a guitar or any instrument i can record with it too and even hook it up too guitar rig

Unless you already have an audio production soundcard in the computer like a delta 1010 or EMU or something go with the interface.

The converters that turn real sound into digital sound on a computer's onboard sound or even on a creative audigy/soundbalseter are terrible. they are really meant for playback of sound in movies and games and are not good for recording at all.

A USB interface will have much better converters and will give you much better recorded sound no matter what mic you use since that is what it's designed to do.
