After several months of debating on which preamp to buy, I went with the m audio tampa. Last night after about ten minutes of being on and recording a live session, I smell smoke! So...shut everything down and what do you know, the Tampa has smoke coming from it. Needless to say, it shut down and has ceased to work ever since. Fortunately, it's warranted. I spoke with M audio, they issued a RA number to return it to. Let's hope all works out. Any ideas on what might have happened? I had othe rack units running fromt eh same channel strip and they're fine. I didn't detect any power surge either.
