So I was skimming through the latest sam ash catalogue and I found out about a soon-to-be released audio/midi interface/controller called Ozone. It's basically the Oxygen-8 with a powered preamp, instrument-in, stereo in and out, and a headphone jack. This sounds like the perfect portable solution. Anyone else catch this? It's not even on m-audio's website yet, but you can read about it on zzounds.com. Looks interesting.

Why someone would want only 25 keys is beyond me...

If you have any piano training whatsoever this thing just looks plain silly. Poeple have had bad comments on the controller knobs as well - I can't remember why.

Well, I looked into the oxygen 8 and didn't get it. I eneded up with an evolution mk249c. Why no oxygen? It looked and felt very cheap to me. Also, for being "portable" I thought it was quite deep/thick. Also, only 25 keys was limiting. For me it wasn't small enough to be portable, making the # of keys even a bigger issue. I'll wait for a smaller keyboard with more keys. I don't mind if they made the keys half size and put 49. With a small portable unit I mostly would use it for triggering, some basic chord or melodies, and/or controlling softsynths. I won't be doing some piano concerto. That is one think I don't get, making the keys full size on these portable units.

I have been very satisfied with the evolution, and they also make smaller ones ala the o8 if interested.
