m-audio omni an condenser mic recording

hey guys,
im using a computer based recording system, and for right now my ONLY input device is one condenser mic. I put that mic in through a new m-audio omni i/o interface into the MIC/INS XLR jack number 1. Everything so far is going fine, The only problem now is that when i put it into jack one The interface only records and recgognizes the left side! When i switched it to the other plug it defaults to the right side. How do i fix things so the mic will record on both left and right?

hmmm mono track..

if i record it as a mono track will there be sound recorded still on both left and right channels? im using cool edit pro 2 are you familiar wit it?
 
Haven't used CE.

I'm guessing it works pretty much like Sound Forge. In Sound Forge, I'd record it mono. Then if I wanted it in both sides of a stereo file, I'd open an empty stereo wav and paste it into both sides.
