m-audio octane vs. mackie onyx...conversion comparison...???

hello again...

pretty sure that a mackie onyx 1640i is superior to an m-audio octane in terms of preamp quality...but how about conversion quality...???

my guitarist...who is currently running an octane as his studio AI...wants to buy my onyx 1640i for same...& is hoping it is a step up in conversion quality also.

wasn't sure what to tell him because i'm not certain of the converters in the octane.

From what I've read, I would think that both the mic preamps and converters in the Octane would be superior. Don't know personally, just regurgitating what I've heard, generally.

And why do my lowercase 'G's look like 'Q's lately? I wonder what could cause that? Hmmm...

As it turns out, it's only in the reply box, when I post it, it looks fine. No cause for alarm I guess, just very strange.
