Hey all - Im thinking of purchasing this item to get started with some basic recording (guitar/vocals only for now). I think it should be good for me since I have my laptop with me out on the road and a desktop PC at home, and Im hoping to alternate between the 2 environments.

My question is: other than this, a mic, and some recording software I dont need anything else to get started, right? I'm going for a minimum of costs here.

Ideally you want a couple of mics unless you're overdubbing vox onto the guitar track. You can get by with one mic but two is usually better (and easier) for voice and guitar.

All your processing/mixing etc. can be done in software these days.

You might just want to be getting ideas down at this stage but if you want to be getting decent sounding mixes you'll have to start thinking about a monitoring set up sometime in the future.
