I have the m audio mobile pre and we got it setup tonite on a laptop with m audio monitors. Thing is i can play tracks and hear them in the monitors or headphones, but I can't hear the incoming signal. I went to their site, and on the FAQ it said there was no way to monitor the input signal, can this be right? anybody run into this? I mean i can hear the music, but how am I supposed to do a vocal without monitor feedback loop or using headphones when i can't hear myself? Is there a way to get around this, maybe using a mixer???? I'm very pleased with what I have so far, but we were just playing live into 2 condenser mics so there was no need in monitoring the signal. Any help would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance

I have the MobilePre USB as well, just got it last month so I can do quick recordings. Which program are you using it with? I was using N-Track Studio on my PC with it, but my PC died, so now I just use it on my PowerBook G4 using the software that came with the MobilePre. I can monitor the input signal just fine in both. So, which program are you using, maybe I can help you out.

If you go open the mobilepre thingy on your computer by clicking on the logo on your desktop or the speaker icon, there is a checkbox for "direct monitoring" - I think that's what it's called. Check that and you should be good to go.

well I got the input monitoring working, now when the tracking line (bar that moves across audio to show where you are) moves across the audio it's got a lot of latency, where as before it was perfect. and also I hear a bad echo or latency in the headphones...hate to bother ya'll, cause I know it's gonna end up being simple...thanks again for the replies
