Hey all, New to the board here!

I am currenty using an AT3035 on my own voice-overs (male) and I love the results. i'm running through a dbx288a into my M-box. The room is treated well, I'm still waiting for some auralex I ordered to kill a slight echo.

My problem is this, when I record my girl she has a high pitch and I hear the room much more, I find the AT3035 to be a little bright for her. I used the SM58 on her and it killed the echo but I find the recording to be less full.

Is anyone recording a female on the Luna and what results are you getting? If anyone has an audio sample I'd love to hear it.

Damn I thought that you were trading!! :)

What makes you want to use the Luna? Im sure there are better mics about for the same price. Maybe look at a Mxl V67, i have gotten good results off one of those with a female singer.

I've read around the Luna is warm... I've never used a Marshall are they really good? The other mic I was considering in the Rode NT1. For whatever reason i am drawn to the Luna.

The V67 is very warm, adds a bit of colouration to the sound which flatters the voice. Check out this http://www.hr-faq.org/search.htm

There are alot of mics on there and it should answer some of your questions

Thanks alot... But still if anyone can give me some feedback on the Luna, I' appreciate it. I got a guy that will pass it off to me for 150.00. I'm not yet looking to build a mic collection so i am looking for something for her.

gummblefish, i am looking into that marshall. I will consider it. Someone told me to get the 990, but i have my doubts about that one.

Hey i came across two, V67i and V67g, which one are you talking about?

Dont get the 990 of all the Marshalls. That one is particularly bad in my opinion. It has worked on some things but i havent had very good results with that one on vocals.

check this review on the luna

Its funny you say that about the 990. I saw a post by Harvey Gearst where he claims he used it on The Outsiders or something like that, as the main vox mic. From what I've read it's the same capsule as the 603 and I know for a fact it isn't a LDC its more a MDC. Its not a go to mic but honestly with mics it could end up kicking ass on her vox, you really just need a wide choice til you find one that fits her. I've had great luck with gt55's on female vox.

Oh yeah forgot the V67 i is a dual diaphram version, so you can use either side. One side is brighter than the other.

then the V67i is not what i want. I won't be micing a room and since I only need a vocal mic for her.

Yeah i have used it on my own vocals which it has worked on at times, others it has sounded terrible. im not a huge fan of the mic over all, i would instantly prefer to work with the v67 or the 2003.

The V67 i
is a cardiod pattern, not figure of eight or otherwise, you can use one side or the other, not both. its a bit like two mics in one

Okay, I'm shopping the V67, but I want to get back to the Luna for 150.00. Tomorrow i will recieve the Auralex to finish treating the room. At night I will do a last test with her on the AT3035, If i don't like what I hear Tuesday I will be buying a mic to fit her better.

Okay after treating the room better I get much better results on her voice, still a little bright for my taste.

I'm looking for warmth for a female doing Voice-overs. I am looking at these mics (keep in mind I have the AT3035, SM58, and RE50 B.)

Im looking at:
M-audio Luna
MXL V67i
Rode NT1-A
SP B-1
MXL 909
SM 57
M-Audio Solaris
KSM27

Hello,
I took a Luna home the other day and did some test tracks with it. Warm, yes. It would have stayed except this one (used) had a bit of a self noise issue. It probably just needed a good drying out, but I wasn't in the mood to deal with it. I did like it's sound though, for a $129.00 mic for backing vocs and darker lead vocs. It would also make a good weapon, it's one solid, heavy mic.
