Wtf is a PRS
K, Review this product please. Any feedback? Anyone using it?

At most id be recording two guitars simultaneously. Possibly 2 Guits and a bass Simultaneously? Also would be using the s/pdif in to dump stuff from a VS880EX to my DAW?

Long and Mcquade have this listed for $349 CAD as opposed to Maudios Website listed $584 CAD!

Sounds like a steal?

Suggustions? Praise? Rants? Will it do what i need it to do?

Also if i switch from my current HP craptop to an imac should it just be an easy swap out or, will i need a new seperate audio interface if i get a mac?

Moral of the story being can i use the FastTrack Ultra seamlessly with imac?

Hmmm?

Go...........

It's a decent price.
Long & McQuade are usually in the ball park.
I've only used the Fast Track Pro with Windows which was excellent.
You can certainly trust the brand.

Im hoping to have better luck with it then the Fast Track USB Its kinda weak and im not digging it.

There is absolutely no comparison between the Fast Track USB and the rest of their products.
The USB is an entry level device which, in all honesty, does little to help the brand name.
If you are at all concerned about M-Audio because of it then there are plenty of other brands to choose from.
But as I said already. M-Audio is good.
Good Luck.:)

I've been using it from recording myself acoustic to recording full band for probably 8 months now and its worked great. I carry it around in my gig bag with me everywhere and love it. The sound it fantastic i really have no complaint about it. Oh and i use a macbook pro and it works beautifully no issues whatsoever using it with mac ( thats all i've ever used it with as a matter of fact)

I'm looking for a USB interface for my laptop and am wondering what exactly is wrong with the Fast Track USB? I hear dissatisfaction with it but never any specifics about why it's not any good. Is it noisy? Do you experience dropouts? Does it lose its connection to the computer? Are the knobs/connections cheap/flimsy?

From my experience, nothing is wrong with it. Granted, I've only been recording seriously for about a year and a half, but so far it's been all I've needed for my basic setup (Martin acoustic, EV microphones, old piano in the basement). I've never experienced any noise, dropouts, or lost connections with the Fast Track USB. But that may be simply because my setup is so basic.

I'd say the Fast Track is a good, solid deal for a simple and cost-effective means to record your ideas in high quality. I'm looking to upgrade here in the near future, but I sure am glad I picked this little guy up (only $50 at Guitar Center).

I appreciate your input - thanks. I'm not sure what the source of the bad reviews are then. Maybe the gain is a little weak for dynamic mics. Maybe manufacturing standards vary from unit to unit and some are real duds. Anyhow, I'm glad someone's happy with it.

Its an entry level sound card.

Entry level anything is limited.

If your only ever going to be recording one trac kat a time then im sure its fine.

I can't utilize ASIO drivers with this. I need to be able to dump multiple tracks at a time from a VS workstation, and i have NEVER had any success with the FAST TRACK in this department. Drop outs all the time. That may also be part of my laptop as well, but i am also trying to sort that out. just not happy with the fast track USB.

Well Put, AB.
It's entry level and that's all that's wrong with it.
No ASIO, No phantom power, just bare bones.
So if your minds made up about recording with an interface, there is no need to bother with this one.

Update to this....

I just updated the driver to my FAST TRACK USB and it appears as if m-audio has going ot let this unit utilize an ASIO driver?

Im not 100% on this, i will post back tomorrow after i try this out.

Lets hope,
