hey guys, first time post here. i got the M-Audio podcast factory as a present last year, i wanted to start learning how to do some recording. i plugged my guitar into the equipment and set it all up. and then nothing. ill sometimes get some sound being heard but not much. i looked online for a solution and i saw the M-Audio Fast Track Pro, a device that looks exactly the same, but apparently its more for guitar and the podcast factory is more for...talking into? is this correct, or is my guitar just not connected right. i would really appreciate some help on this.

Not quite.
The Fast Track Pro is an audio interface.
I'll have a look at the podcast thing and hopefully, tell you the difference.
....... well it looks like a Fast Track USB with a cheap mic and some software some of which you can download for free.
If the intent of the person giving you the gift was to get you some entry level tools to satisfy your interest then clearly, they were successful and you are ready to step up.
The Fast Track Pro and a condenser mic would be a nice step up in that regard. :)
