I think I'll have to go with VTB-1 at this point, looks like it has more flexibility, and for 99 bucks it's not a problem to get a second one for stereo on the accoutics or micing drums. My main goal is to record electric guitars (no tube coloring) and vocals (slight tube color) and then plug in the bass direct (tube smoothness) so this will work just fine.
I have a kinda nasaly thin voice and the tube warmth will be nice, also nice for thickening up things if needed. It looks like it has a lot more wiring configuration flexibilty than the DMP3.
