I have a Delta 44, which says that it has 1/4" TRS inputs. I am hoping to record my band using these four 1/4" inputs, for vocals, guitar, bass, and drums (one input each). Using Steinberg Nuendo, i am trying to record all inputs simultaneously.
My question is recording the drums. I have 6 drum mics, all connected to a single mixer where it is converted into a stereo output. I panned the different mics on the drum kit, so i want it to be panned like that in the final recording. How would i do this, preferrably using only a single input of the delta 44?

With one input, all your drums will end up on one track.

Why not throw 4 mics on the kit, record the drums first to 4 tracks, then record the guitars/vox seperately

The 4 ins (and outs too) are arranged in stereo pairs....
In 1/2 (1=L 2=R)
In 3/4 (3=L 4=R)
So, if you use inputs 3 & 4 for the stereo output of the mixer, you can record to a stereo track with 3/4 chosen as its input. This leaves in1 and in2 each to be chosen for two Mono tracks.

The point is, you cannot avoid using a stereo track if you want the drum mics panned differently without a full multitrack recording (each mic on seperate tracks). However, with 2 inputs left, you can at least get "guide" vocal and guitar parts down and overdub afterwards to get the full arrangement.

DON'T DO IT!!!

I had a band in last week who wanted their two-amps-and-a-kit band to play together on their recordings. I mixed the drums down to a stereo pair and kept the two guitars seperate ... and now every song needs more kick drum and I can't give them it!!!!

what mixer do you have? If it has direct outs or 4 buses, you could use them to send to the 44.

Doesn't know how to multitrack but does know how to get dodgy cracks off P2P ;)
