I have some RAM 2-ways Ref monitors.(who the fhk u say?i dunno)
and No amplifier w/4ohm....can't make my mind up on upgrading to
a PC or STandalone/Digital-Porta studio sooo...

Monitors w/Amp built in...~$275-290...to the door.

i'm done reading, and these the BX5 and 8.2a's
got decent entry level recemmendo's here.

anyone tried both?

active monitors

thanks..
look nice, but i think the Wharfedales at $275 by deepwater have the ratings.
(i don't normally bother with that sht, unless it's like a real post like this forum). read some good threads on them some shootouts Yammies and MA BX5.

Wharfedales are bit larger bass speaker, and wattage slightly up.
deepwaters discount brings them in the $250 range.

MAudio BX5's have that adjustment factor that may be helpful in non-prfessional
room....and free shipping.

usually recording all analog, chorded acoustic, electric guitar jangles, blues when bored and can't
write anything original.

MA BX5 or Whafs..tired of spelling

I think I would want a sub with the BX5s ... nothing wrong with them but if it's a straight choice between those two I'd take the Wharfedales. That doesn't mean I'm on the Wharfedale bandwagon though.

subs... oh no!!

damn...i ain't even purchased the fhkng speakers and I'm already hearing about subs!! (just joking...gearhead madness) :)
ok kinda serious...no subs in the plan$$.
I have a Home Theater JBL 12" fhkng
powered rumble the windows ..heavy mo.

there ain't no bandwagons here either, but word of mouth is big, IMO.

I've been reading many, many posts that speak highly of certain speakers
in this $$ range (and some posts are by apparently respectable GearHead-Behind the Glass-heads who have better than or have used these speakers on their way to Audio bliss...there's no turning back).

another IMO:
deepwater, for example, or any else,
couldn't flood the entire internet at every forum on ~$300 monitors.
and Wharfedales 8.2, and handful of others have gotten very good posts
consistently.

i have listened to sht in GC but it ain't my pad...or room,
but i really am not at the "HI END" worry state.
if it's a decent, well built, well priced speaker (with 5yr warranty)...
with..alot of great reviews by the gang etc.
All GC has is fhkng No Shipping and easy return policy.

these speakers ain't KRULL amps in the speakers.... I'm not dillusional.
I can dig it......good enuff for me.

I came to a crossroad, i could either spend $200 on an amp and use my "unknown" Pawn Shop RAM 2-ways Ref monitors...

or spend $200 + 75...for brand new powered Wharfedales-8.2.

thats what I'm talkin bout.

And I'm talking about ... if you want them, buy them! If they're comparably priced to BX5s, then the Wharfedales are the superior buy!

I dunno what the deal is with the 8.2As myself, didn't find them at all spectacular in the shop. John Scrip (Massive Master) uses Wharedales, but not these ones and only with his high-end amps.

However, I stand by what I said - which is that if BX5 vs. 8.2A is your final pair to choose between, then Wharfedales every time.

It's only my 2p, don't take me too seriously :)

Wharfedales 8.2a

deepwater offered a "special" to members on the board here.
but i just grabbed a blemish pair from ZZ sounds
(free shipping) for $259.
done.deal.

AMS Price $335.00

Price to my homerecording friends $275.00>>>

Now get on with it and make music...

You wont be disapointed...de couple those Wharfies too...your gonna get way more bass than the BX-5's...hey...I don't even want a sub with mine I don't find I need to turn them up too loud in my small room and the Bass rock's it every time..!!!

No my set is being rebuilt very very very very slowly. I'm going to put up a general info page soon.

Warranty in Australia

The warranty for Wharfedale 8.2a's is only three years in Australia. ??

Im also pretty stuck between these two monitors. Over here in the UK the wharfdales are £250(about $470 i think) and the M audios are £180. I saw some reiview where a guy did some sound test's on the BX5's and it showed that they didnt really lose any bass, its just that they didnt exagerate it like a few other monitors do.
Still not sure though.
