I currently do small time home recording using my SB Live Platinum and I'm looking to upgrade to a better ASIO-compliant card (too many latency problems). I record live audio tracks some of the time, but I use my MIDI keyboard to input music too. My recording style is to make the music as real and natural sounding as possible. Although I use VST plug-ins a lot, I use soundfonts too - drums, stringed instruments, etc, because I have some really good soundfonts. I've been considering the M-Audio Audiophile card as my replacement, but am concerned since I don't think it supports soundfonts. Should I go with the M-Audio card or take my chances with an Audigy? And (newbie question here I think) if I go with the M-Audio card, what can I use to replace the soundfonts? Am I locked into using VST instruments like Halion ($$$)? Thx.
