older m-audio stuff and xp
This may or may not hold true for the (delta?) 410, but i can tell you about my experience with the delta dio 2448. I got it for 30$ on ebay, and it went that low because the previous owner thought it was going to be incompatible with his new XP machine. I was not sure either so i took a chance and bought it, figuring i could resell it if it didn't work, or just save it for an older machine. M-audio's website also reported that it was not fully compatible with XP (they remarked that the SPDIF output would not work). We'll I hooked it up, installed the latest driver (designed for Win2000), and for 30$ i got a pretty good sounding card - and ALL the features worked on my XP machine. It's NOT perfect - i sometimes have to press a few extra clicks between audio programs to set up the card to work properly, but it does everything i need (send out audio to my monitors, spdif in and out for 16bit files).
If you can your card at a really budget price, it might be worth a try.
