Hi all, hoping you can help a struggling lad here. I've posted about this (or a similar issue) previously in the thread at the bottom of my post, since then my setup has changed and I have got rid of the soundblaster and got some monitors. This is how I am currently connected:

- Instrument> Line 1 input on Behringer Eurorack MX 602a
- Main out L from Mixer connected to TRS in 1 on Delta 1010 Rack
- Main out R from Mixer connected to TRS in 2 on Delta 1010 Rack
- Delta 1010 connected via host cable to PC
- L Monitor connected to TRS 1 OUT on Delta 1010 Rack
- R Monitor connected to TRS 2 OUT on Delta 1010 Rack

So, if I set the M-audio control panel on the output tab, 1/2 Out, to either Mixer or 1/2 In and strum the guitar, i get sound. Great. But, if i play an Mp3 in Winamp, it plays for 2 seconds and freezes, if I play an mp3 in media player, I get no sound at all. If I play a video in media player, i get no sound.

So, what the hell am I doing wrong? I thought the Host cable would communiacate between the pc and m-audio, and basically, in normal windows operation the 1010 would just act like a standard soundcard?!

Not even tried to record anything yet... any ideas?!

Thanks in advance :)

have you checked that the 1010 is selected in the audio tab in sounds and audio devices in the control pannel ? and that one and two channels are selected as outputs

hi, thanks for responding. in the actual windows control panel I have tried various options including setting the output as the 1/2 on the 1010 and also setting it to "mixer" which also works in terms of the guitar noise but not mp3s/videos etc but no luck.

am i right in thinking this setup should work properly? (bar driver issues?)

Did you turn off your onboard sound in the computer bios? If you didn't it could be causing a driver conflict. In the Delta control panel under the Patchbay/Router tab select "monitor mixer". And under the Monitor Mixer tab make sure that your volume controls are up.

You need to read the manual, it's actually pretty complicated getting one of these set up. It took me a while to figure it out, and I had to sit through many agonizing hours of reading the manual. You can the manual online.

You need to choose ASIO for your driver, and then make sure you route your outputs and inputs correctly. It's really hard to know exactly what your issue is without seeing all of your setting. One thing I see is that you have your input linked and stereo panned. I keep mine all as mono.

all, thanks for responding, i've finally got it sorted. i decided screw this driver, and downloaded an older one from the m-audio site. removed old driver, removed pci card, started install again using older driver and bang, works straightaway! additionally the control panel matches the manual now so i've got a relevant guide.

big thanks to all who helped along the way.
