I'm looking to get a soundcard for recording. From my research these are my top three choices. I was wondering if I could get some feedback from people who have used these cards. Which one would you go with? Or suggest one that isn't listed here. Thanks.

If I needed a lot of inputs and found the added preamps useful, then I'd get the ardvark.

If I just wanted the best-sounding card I could get my hands on, and 6-inputs were enough, then I'd get the Lynx II.

It has zero. Zilch. Zip. Nadda.

Just very pristine, high-quality a/d conversion and world-class sound.

Are you coming from a mixer or do you want to go straight into your computer. One purpose of the Q10 was to bypass use of a mixer and go straight into the computer. Also, the first 4 inputs have phantom power if you're using a condensor mic. I went from a Yamaha DSP Factory (4 inputs, all 1/4") to the Q10 (8 inputs, 1/4" or XLR) and love it. Software I use is CW PA 9.0 and Windows 98SE. Cakewalk comes with the Q10.

I use the Arrdvark q10 with Cakewalk SONAR 2.0 XL and I really like it. With out a mixer my little studio is very transporable which is another thing I like. But I also have a 24 channel Peavey sound board that I can use . . .but have never needed to yet.

I also work with a lot of indie bands and if they have awful equipment I just have them plug their guitars strait in . . .one done that with bass. . . then run it through SONAR's amp sim and it sounds nice.

5 hours till

Sorry - -yes - wrong forum- -just thought i'd let you know my Aardvark DirectPro is going to sell for 305 on Ebay in 5 hours. (check my post under ads for musicians for link) The 24/96 is great and you can connect any three Aardvark products. I live above a ProToo;s studio where I work and so figured i'd let it go.

Cheers,

yeah, part of the reason I'm looking at the aardvarks is that I wouldn't need to spend the money on a mixer and premap right away. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure...does anyone know how the delta cards compare to the aarvarks?

Just a heads up so you don't make the same mistake I did.

Although I'm very happy with my Aardvark Q10, one of the reasons I bought it is that it comes bundled with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0. Imagine my chagrin when I found that Pro 9 is not designed to run on Windows XP. Actually, some folks have gotten it to work with XP but Cakewalk doesn't suggest it.

Long story short, Cakewalk offered to upgrade me to SONAR 2.0 for $99, or SONAR 2.0XL for $199.

Obviously this isn't an issue for people running Windows 98 or 2000.
