Excluding issues of expansion, the question is difference in quality/accuracy. Is the LynxL22 much better than the LynxOne?

I assume L22 is the 2nd generation which implies all-around improvements. Is it worth the extra cost (roughly $250)?

Thanks.

its supposed to be from all the review i've read but i haven't heard the lynx one I do have a lynxtwo and i think its great

Reach for the brass ring, get the L22. If you don't, you'll second guess your decission to no end, not to mention painting yourself in a corner with no expandability as you mentioned.
I pondered this too, but went for the L22 and love it. Buy yourself the peace of mind that comes with knowing your converters are beyond reproach.

Oh, I did read a review in an audiophile mag where they said the Lynx 1 fell a little short of "Audiophile quality", but that the Lynx II converters made the grade, for whatever that's worth. Always good to know you can impress the snobs. ;)

Robert D,

Just for sake you have the same.
Could you give me the link of this review in an audiophile mag.

I like the brass ring. :)

Yes, the LynxStudio site mentions that the Two and L22 have updated/upgraded converter from the One.

Also the One has 24-bit/50kHz analog I/O vs. the Two series with 24-bit/200kHz. That's gotta make a difference.

Ok, newbie time...
Do you still need a separate sound card for monitor speakers? In the picture of the board I don't see any output ports... or are the output plugs included in the octopus looking cable that comes with it?

l22

2 are analog inputs

and 2 are analog outputs

as well as spdif/aes connection

word clock in/out

and i forgot what else

i have a lynxtwo and its slightly different then the l22's cable configuration

Found it.......... http://www.stereotimes.com/acc101502.shtm

Here's a tease...

"The Lynx ONE is a flat out bargain, a low-keyed, beautiful (nuts and bolts) unit that has many operational virtues. The Lynx TWO is a full generation beyond that. The TWO delivers musical glory in spades.

We have found, with little contradiction, that the best possible sonic performance derives from the best (often the most expensive) external gear. While the Lynx ONE card is a step below the performance level we demand, the Lynx TWO competes without embarrassment or reservation with high-end external gear. "

Here's what they're comparing to ........

"Our external sound loop has evolved carefully over time. It usually includes the splendid Odéon-lite DAC from Birdland Audio and the Crane Song "HEDD" professional ADC processor. Both of these units are defined by unswerving audio truthfulness."

The two Authors are the owner and mastering engineer of the award winning Blueport Jazz and Blues label. This is no rubber stamp, paid for by advertising dollars, recording mag prostitute review.

Cheers, RD
