On Sjoko's recommendation, I went and picked up the Lucid A/D-D/A 9624 converters.
All I can say is WOW.......!
I listened to Steely Dan's TAN via my Alesis Masterlink, comparing its analog outputs, to the analog outputs of the DA9624 connected digitally to the ML.
The difference was not subtle. At all. It was startling! The ML on its own didn't sound bad at all - UNTIL you compared it to the output of the Lucid!
With the Lucid, imaging was precise, there was an increase in depth and presence, and the detail was crystal clear. Switching back to the ML alone, the sound was dark and muddy - sounding "smudged" by comparsion.
I haven't played with the AD9624 yet, but I expect the results will be equally startling!
For anyone currently using a Masterlink (or any other device that can benefit from outboard A/D/A converters) - these little boxes will take them to the next level!
Excellent pieces of gear - I give them a rating of 5 eeks!!!!!!
