OUCH ...is there such a law?

Go right ahead. Bigger girls than you have been kicked of this board for doing exactly that.
And me, I'll be very happy to have another reason to leave this place. A jackass like you breaking federal law through internet stalking would be just the ticket.

Gosh, thanks. That was just as helpful as every other post you have ever made.Hey Glen...here's my four grammys

Lol. No shit. That motherfucker can type a fucking serious essay post.
But, having said that, and there not being a snowball's chance in hell I'm reading any long winded shit in this stupid thread, I bet he's right on this one. Willy-nilly low cuts across the board are for retards.![]()
I guess I'm a retard then, because I high pass EVERY track. EVERY track has low end energy it doesn't need. The low end of the frequency spectrum also has the most energy, so it uses up headroom faster than the mids or highs.
Since I started high passing everything, I'm much more satisfied with the sound of my mixes. Even after high passing individual tracks, I still sometimes need low cuts on the mix.
I gotta say I'm with kcearl on this one. And by the way, I low pass tracks too. Every vocal or instrument has it's sweet spot. Cutting away un-needed highs removes harshness from the mix as well.
That's the thing: Sometimes you barely need to do a damn thing. Sometimes you DO need to cut all over the place. Sometimes you go on long stretches where you run into material that all seems to want the same type of treatment.Ok, so here is something interesting. Before I decided to attack this mixing thing because it was a huge bottle neck in our productivity we had a a buddy of ours from NY give us a good mix to present a couple of our songs to a label. This kid is nice and he actually mixed one of last years biggest Top 40 hits. Today I had him send me the sessions so I could study what he had done. It turns out he barely did anything! Here I am low cutting everything trying to get clarity and all he did was level, EQ a few select things, add some reverb and delay and his mix is butter. So I guess it proves after all that you don't need to low cut everything. I'm still in awe over how he accomplished such a clear mix with such minimal processing but I just gotta go in there and work more.
Haha and btw, after reading where this thread went I have a feeling I'm gonna enjoy talking on here.
