A few nasty little comments ....
But before the nasties, I wouldn't bother saying anything if I didn't like the thing in general. It's a good song and you did a really nice job performing and mixing. Now the nasties.
There are a few things I absolutely hate because they push me out of the altered universe your song transports me to as a listener.
I'll list by minutes:seconds
1:21 the grumbling quality of your voice as you sing the "O" in "Love". Up until that point I feel transported as if I am on a drug. When your voice catches my attention the drugged feeling dissapears and I am back in regular reality.
1:24 Then when you sing "ya" after the last syllable of therapy I feel downright kicked ... (Yes, I am a drama queen)
1:30 - I'd lose the piano
1:51 - Same complaint as 1:24 except the word is "Care". I realize this is a very common thing singers do and sometimes I love it and sometimes I HATE it.
2:05 - I'll have to give this complaint a name, I'll call it 'Bogus' vocalizing. Do you hate me yet? I actually REALLY LIKE this song, otherwise I wouldn't have these strong reactions.
2:39 - Bogus
2:47 - Bogus to the Nth
2:55 - Here's a NICE little vocal flair on the end of the word 'been'. If it was less subtle I'd be screaming bogus while ducking for cover but instead I feel tickled by it .... Ahhhhh ... I much prefer to be nice
3:12 - I hate the sliding down guitar chord. I would also prefer the key modualtion that comes after that sliding chord be thrown away.
3:22 - I'll say it in a different way this time - The tinkling piano annoys me (Dayum, I am such a little bitch!)
3:33 - I agree that something is needed at this point but the piano doesn't hit the spot for me. I'd rather see some edgy lead guitar work like the lead singer/guitarist from 'Modest Mouse' does. He plays all kinds of horrible stuff and somehow slips it in under the radar.
3:40 - I LOVE your singing beginning here, The piano even begins to work for me .... maybe because it's not that high tinkly stuff
3:49 - "Ya Ya" works really well for me - I feel inspired and uplifted by it actually.
3:53 - I would say "Stop the words" at this point. I have been inundated with many words and now I just to feel. You could just sort of riff with your voice but I am now in the information overload zone.
4:11 - Sadly I must end with another instance of the word "Bogus"
Great job overall and I'd love to hear your comments on a few tracks I just did, I am so sure you can rip me a few new buttholes after hearing them.
Peace and all that good stuff
