Losing SYNC while recording

Hi,
Iam using cakewalk 9,iam using the first track to insert an audio file & using the second track for recording onther audio file with regard to the first track[e.g, 1st track is Guide music and the second is the vocal].
Iam using playback while recording, after recording, the second recorded track is de-sync with the first. WHY???
Iam using a system with:
AMD athlon 600 MHz , HDD 30 GB , 128 RAM & ISIS Maxi Studio for pro [FULL DUBLEX] win 98 , DirectX 8
 
Check that your Options|Audio|Device Profiles tab has 'Use Wave Out Positioning for Timing' checked. Also on the General tab, check that your playback and timing masters are the same device. See what that does for you...report back.
